Second Day. [video/action for goldenrod.]
May. 2nd, 2012 01:41 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
[Keisuke is woken up by something rather...interesting. It's not an alarm, a voice, or even a Pokemon.
It's a tinny, electronic tune. Doo do doo doo doo doooo~
...What.
He picks up the gear, staring intently the the screen because now he's awake for sure.]
~*~Happy 18th Birthday Keisuke Takagi~*~
[Oh. May 2nd. He guessed it really was his birthday--which makes the next thing that pops up on the screen all the more disheartening. Happy Birthday, Keisuke! Here's a mission to do for the evil organization you've been placed in.
It isn't until later in the afternoon, when he's finished driving around (somewhat poorly and noticeably by a certain intelligent woman in red.) and piling up garbage for the day, that turns on the video function. He's looking a bit tired, with a smear of grimy dust on his cheek and bruises along his arm from an overenthusiastic Shellder. Keisuke's back in plainclothes and sitting on a bench somewhere in Goldenrod.]
Worst birthday ever almost seems like an understatement. Doesn't even feel real...
Hey, Atsuro. Are you busy?

Hey, Atsuro. Are you busy?
video;
Date: 2012-05-02 08:16 pm (UTC)[Also BRB arranging a covert business deal because nobody
who shares his faceshould ever look that miserable on their birthday.]video;
Date: 2012-05-02 08:33 pm (UTC)[Nope, not used to that face just yet.]
Thank you. But I'm not quite sure I'm ready to be an eighteen-year-old just yet--it's not for a while, back home.
video;
Date: 2012-05-02 08:38 pm (UTC)...Also, wow, you really do not look eighteen there, Takagi-kun. And even though courtesy would probably dictate that he shift to Takagi-san with this new revelation, switching it up now would involve admitting he was wrong before, and hahahaha, no.]
It does take some getting used to, the differences in the passage of time here. And I doubt anyone will force you to celebrate today, if you're truly not so inclined.
[A pause.]
Though I imagine you've been busy today, even so.
[This is Yagyuu's polite way of saying you look like death warmed over, bro.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-02 09:00 pm (UTC)Hmn. [--is his way of showing some doubt on that situation. He's been forced to do quite a few things on his birthday already. Why shouldn't celebrating be on that list?
In response to Yagyuu's observation, he nods.] That's one way of putting it. I'd prefer staying away from that subject, though, if you don't mind.
video;
Date: 2012-05-02 09:33 pm (UTC)Not at all. I merely hope whatever endeavor kept you busy was a successful one.
[Yagyuu, if you only knew.]
Are you in Goldenrod City?
video;
Date: 2012-05-02 11:25 pm (UTC)...Went off without a hitch.
[Unfortunately. But he tries not to look any more beat up about it than he already does.]
I am, yeah. How come?
video;
Date: 2012-05-03 12:09 am (UTC)[Because he's up to something, obviously. But since he's not going to show that, he just shrugs effortlessly instead.]
There are worse cities in which to spend a birthday. Goldenrod is the biggest in Johto; I could recommend you a nice cafe, if you'd like.
video;
Date: 2012-05-03 12:35 am (UTC)That's nice of you, thanks. I'm afraid I haven't gotten around too much, yet. I did get a job two days ago, but that's about the extent of my exploring.
video;
Date: 2012-05-03 01:09 am (UTC)A block or two down from the Pokemon Center, there's a cafe between a shoe store and one that sells custom Pokemon supplies. I'm fond of the coffee, and the pastries aren't bad, either.
video;
Date: 2012-05-03 04:13 pm (UTC)I'll keep that in mind. Do you know this area well, then, or are you just familiar with some parts?
video;
Date: 2012-05-04 02:46 am (UTC)[One that's depressingly empty these days, where it once held around a dozen people and now only houses two.]
It's the one with the tennis court in the back.
video;
Date: 2012-05-05 01:10 pm (UTC)[He's heard of people settling down, so he supposes he shouldn't be all too surprised.]
I guess you must like tennis, then?
video;
Date: 2012-05-05 05:42 pm (UTC)[Which still demonstrates a little of his lingering homeworld bias, because if he'd said "I'm one of the Rikkaidai regulars" back there, the street cred would have been instantaneous — instantly identifying him as one of the eight most terrifying tennis players in the
formerlybest school in the nation. Here...not so much.]So I suppose you could say we're fond of it, yes.
video;
Date: 2012-05-06 03:07 am (UTC)It must be fun, being a part of something you love. Especially if you have friends there.
[Hi, he's not a joiner. He does seem a bit wistful about it, though. His high school experience was very...incomplete.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-06 04:19 am (UTC)You don't have a favorite club or activity, Takagi-kun? I'm sorry to hear that.
video;
Date: 2012-05-06 12:16 pm (UTC)[High school, anyway.]
I wasn't exactly anyone's favorite person.
[And now Keisuke's looking a bit awkward. It's not a subject he particularly wants to approach again--it was hard enough admitting it to Atsuro back home, and that was after he and the others had saved him from his justice streak. Not to mention dying, according to his death clock. He had owed them that much.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-06 07:59 pm (UTC)Have you ever played tennis?
[The smooth diversion of subject is Yagyuu's way of being considerate.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-06 09:23 pm (UTC)Sure, a few times. When I was younger. Probably nothing compared to you and your friend, though.
video;
Date: 2012-05-07 02:08 am (UTC)[Because all of life's problems are addressed through tennis, obviously.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-07 02:30 am (UTC)Alright. [
It's a date.] Sounds like a plan.[...Wow, he is going to get slaughtered.]
video;
Date: 2012-05-07 02:52 am (UTC)Of course, in Yagyuu's perspective, there's more to tennis than just the actual tennis, and so maybe this time the outcome doesn't matter
as much, anyway.]I'll look forward to it, Takagi-kun.
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-03 03:02 am (UTC)...I wish you happiness upon reaching your date of birth.
[...Was this how humans did it? He wasn't sure.]
However, that does not seem to be the case for you.
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-03 04:17 pm (UTC)Not really, but thank you anyway. I've just had a busy day, is all.
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-04 01:57 am (UTC)It certainly appears so. Have you not rested even once?
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-05 01:18 pm (UTC)[voice]
Date: 2012-05-05 08:22 pm (UTC)[Even though he can tell that's not exactly the whole truth. Nevertheless, subject change.]
...What does it mean to have a "birthday"?
[To humans, at least. He already knew what it was in theory, but a human perspective would be much more interesting.]
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-06 03:03 am (UTC)[So, the Anguished One had seemed a bit like a curious, deep thinker. This simple question throws Keisuke off a little, even if he's sure it's not just a face value type of inquiry.
He is forever suspicious of what you say.]
A day that marks the passing of another year, making you that much older?
[...Did he get it right?]
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-06 04:24 am (UTC)[Well he knew that already. But then again, a year was probably a big deal to humans. Him, not so much.]
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-06 12:20 pm (UTC)Others might not care, or even hate it, depending on how old they are. Everybody wants to grow up until they get to be grown up.
[Keisuke's not entirely sure how he himself feels about birthdays. They were certainly a bigger deal for him when he was a little kid and his parents played into the hype.]
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-07 01:43 am (UTC)...Do you normally enjoy these occasions?
[voice]
Date: 2012-05-07 01:54 am (UTC)[voice]
Date: 2012-05-10 02:16 am (UTC)Mm...I'm sorry to hear that.
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-03 09:05 am (UTC)Happy birthday, Keisuke! And nope, I'm not busy right now.
[Note to self, make a call to the breeding center or something. Or buy a TM. You know what, maybe both. Expect to get an egg and Ice Beam TM later!]
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-03 04:24 pm (UTC)Do you think we could do something, then? Goldenrod's a big place, so I'm sure there's plenty to do...
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-04 12:17 am (UTC)[Video]
Date: 2012-05-05 01:40 pm (UTC)Have you eaten? I could use a bite to eat before doing anything else.
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-06 07:38 am (UTC)[Some of Atsuro's birthdays was spent alone, whenever his parents can't make it back. But that's before he met Keisuke, and then "him" and Yuzu.]
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-06 12:27 pm (UTC)[Good deal. He still hadn't eaten out much, taking advantage of Team Rocket's facilities until getting a job actually paid off, but suddenly the idea is appealing.]
Someone recommended a cafe to me earlier. Apparently it's good and not too far from the Pokemon Center.
[Awh yeah, utilizing information from contacts. Look at him, talking to people.]
[Video]
Date: 2012-05-07 11:07 am (UTC)[He don't mind either way. Beside, Keisuke's the birthday boy!]
[video] 1/2
Date: 2012-05-06 03:32 am (UTC)[video] 2/3 i lied
Date: 2012-05-06 03:35 am (UTC)That... probably didn't make you feel any better, though, sorry...
[video] 3/3
Date: 2012-05-06 03:35 am (UTC)I hope you can celebrate properly with Atsuro, enjoy the rest of the day at least. There's a pretty awesome arcade in Goldenrod.
[video] gasp, you liar.
Date: 2012-05-06 12:29 pm (UTC)...Your best friend went missing for two weeks?
[video]
Date: 2012-05-09 02:26 am (UTC)Pretty sure that's not a common thing, though, people going missing. I mean, unless they go home. But when they go home, their badge number/caller ID/whatever you wanna call it shows up as unknown and, like, you can't contact them anymore because their Gear is out of service, but this wasn't that. He was just... missing. Didn't really help that the day after we found him Midori and a couple of my other friends went home, but that's Johto for you.
Besides, it's all good now. And, hey, another friend of mine actually came back, so that's a plus. Sometimes Johto rewards you for all the crap it puts you through. You know, like it giveth and taketh away or whatever.
